out of the hair, into the pocket

Last Saturday, Emman and I met his friends from his uni-daze for dinner. At the end of the gathering, one of his friends commented that they should meet up more often. I told her that she would have to take the initiative to organise to meet up, cos 'initiative' is one area that my bf is significantly lacking in.

She seemed a tad surprised and told me that since I said so, she would believe me and organise gatherings more often. Just before we parted, she smiled and said she would keep in contact, now that she has my permission.

I was a little taken aback. I didn't know anyone has to have my permission to ask my boyfriend out. And I sure didn't care that my friends did not have my bf's permission to ask me out.

Maybe... I'm sure she was just kidding. 'Cos it never did occur to me to try not asking my friends out, no matter guy or gal, cos they are attached or married. If there is a baby (or babies) in the picture, then, 'yup'. I don't find the idea of entertaining babies while hanging out with my friends an appealing one.

Keeping friends is important to me, with or without a relationship, and especially so when I'm in a relationship. It maintains my sanity, which has a higher tendency to be in a troubled state when there's another significant player in my life. Most importantly, while he's an excellent listener, Emman is not a very reciprocative bitching partner. I need to get my doses somewhere.

Over the past two months, met up with a number of friends. CJ, Shobana, Wenn, Apple, Anna, Ade, Karen, Miche, Trudy, Yixian, Chaw Su, DharmaJac (considered one entity), Sharifah... looking forward to meeting Shaohao, Eugene and the FVB Kyn in the coming week. And of cos, The Shameless Snow, tomorrow.

My dad remarked to my mum that he's seeing less of me these days. He's definitely exaggerating. And the thing is, he's out most of the time while I'm home, cos he's driving his own cab now. I'm afraid he may be thinking of keeping me in his pocket. I'm afraid that's what Emman's been thinking of doing too.

I'm so lucky, right? haha...
